Editorial & underwriting standards
BuildUp Capital is a private lender, and our content is held to the same discipline as our underwriting: written by operators, reviewed by experts, sourced from primary data, and kept honest. Here is exactly how we produce it.
Operator-authored
Our content is written by people who have built, bought, run, and underwritten businesses — not outsourced copywriters. We explain lending the way an operator actually experiences it.
Expert-reviewed
Anything touching deal structure, underwriting, or capital strategy is reviewed by our investment team, and the highest-stakes pieces are reviewed by our Chief Investment Officer, a former federal trustee and specialist in complex real estate workouts.
Primary sources
When we cite data on small-business credit, SBA activity, or market conditions, we link to primary sources (e.g., the SBA Office of Advocacy and Federal Reserve small-business surveys) rather than secondhand summaries.
No advice masquerading as education
Our education is educational — not investment, legal, or tax advice. Investor-facing material carries no rates, returns, or projections; those belong in a direct conversation and definitive documentation.
Accuracy over hype
We don’t publish outcome promises, fabricated statistics, or superlatives. Figures pending verification are flagged and withheld until confirmed.
Kept current
We review published pages periodically and correct anything that drifts out of date — including how we’re represented in search and AI answers.
Corrections
Spotted something inaccurate — on our site or in an AI answer that cites us? Tell us and we’ll correct it at the source. A real person typically responds within 24 hours.
